Antei-ji
Zen Training Temple
Lancaster
The Temple in the
Garden of Peace
Anteiji’s place in the world is simple:
To hold the heart of Zen Buddhism without softening it for modern life.
To offer undiluted training.
To hold a mirror up to the world in the name of peace.
SIMPLICITY, SIMPLICITY, SIMPLICITY
This is the Antei-ji Way.
Our teaching is deliberately simple. We don’t offer theories or elaborate explanations of the Dharma. We point directly to lived experience; walking, sitting, breathing, meeting life as it is.
The Way is not about becoming calm, healed, or better. It is about stopping the story, stopping the habit of turning life into a problem to be solved.
What remains is already perfectly complete, already you.
For this reason the life of Anteiji is walked and lived in the ordinary world, in the cemetery grounds, in the silence of zazen. And in walking the Kaihōgyō, the 34,000 mile/seven year Peace Pilgrimage through Lancaster and its cemetery.
